Some websites are reporting that Christopher Nolan might not be directing a third Batman film after Inception. Other websites are implying that Batman 3 could be directed by someone else, although, Christian Bale is contractually obligated to reprise his role as Batman.I’m here to say that I really doubt that a third, non-Nolan, Batman film with Christian Bale as Batman would happen. First off, as Erik on the forums mentioned, “[The article states] they knew this for a year, and they publish it now?” What can they gain in withholding that kind of information? If this looked like this was serious possibility, we would’ve know this by now for sure. Christopher Nolan would’ve let everyone know that he’s done with the Batman films and production of a third film would be able to start production under another director. But Chris Nolan isn’t doing that. This is all clearly speculation and there is nothing to worry about.Discuss in the comments.

The reports are rubbish. Nolan is just waiting until Inception is in the can until he rolls on with Batman 3. Bale, Oldman and Caine are all under contract… and you can bet that (as some have stated previously) WB scooping up Inception so quickly is a sure sign that there is some sort of unofficial, unspoken agreement for a third Nolan Batman film. People need to stop jumping to so many conclusions. Goyer and Jonah Nolan will come up with a great story, we just have to wait a bit. Also, TDK was in no way a conclusion to Nolan's entries, there were too many threads left hanging for that to be the case. Nolan may say he doesn't think in advance but the films were originally planned as a trilogy and some things did not carry over to TDK.

Nolan himself told that they were playing with an ideia… The man just needs time to do another film, expand the mind and return to the final Gotham act…

Exactly. People should sit back and get excited for Inception, which is sure to be another of the many Nolan masterpieces

Glad you published this article. I was sick of sites like MTV's Splash going crazy over this stupid rumor.

I don't know my brothers. The simple truth is that we are not going to know what is really going to happen for a long time. All these reports have to be taken with a grain of salt. We might as well sit tight and wait and see.

An announcement will be made with the release of Inception next summer, you can bet on it.

My belief is that Nolan won't let us down on that he will direct, produce and write(or as I like to call it: "Soul of Gotham") an he'll show those stupid idiots who believe this is true who's boss. If not I'm going to start a protest

I wholly agree with this statement that the rumors about Nolan's absence in Batman 3 (should it be made) are baseless. Warner Bros. is definitely aware that Nolan's attachment to the franchise has raked in billions, and adding a different director (even if it is a highly talented one like Fincher or Aronofsky) would be stupid. I agree with R that an announcement will be made probably with the release of Inception.

The article stating Nolan wouldn't return is just pure conjecture. If WB wanted to make another Batman film without Nolan, why wait 4 years? Why not 2 or even 3 years? This news is just out-of-hand speculation. Nolan is off filming Inception and he stated he'd return if there was a good idea for a sequel and good script, that's Goyer's and Jonah's department. We seem to be forgetting that The Dark Knight came out just a year ago. Just give it time.
