“Inception” Delayed, “Batman Redemption” Announced

[April Fools] You read it correctly. Batman fans are getting their wish. Earlier today, Syncopy Films announced that Christopher Nolan will shift his attention from the Inception project to focus on the release of a third Batman film, entitled “Batman Redemption.” This decision came after Leonardo DiCaprio, who was set to star in Inception, wanted to push shooting on the film back a number of months so that he may shoot an unspecified passion project. Warner Bros insisted that Nolan push up the schedule on Batman 3 in return. David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan already had a story outline complete and had handed it off to younger brother Jonathan Nolan, co-writer of The Dark Knight, some months ago to do a couple drafts.

Commenting on the script, the 38 year-old director said, “I have no doubt that a story like this has the potential to top The Dark Knight, otherwise I wouldn’t be doing it.” When asked about fan concern about rushing the film, Nolan commented, “[Batman Redemption] is going to have the exact same timeline which we had for The Dark Knight after Batman Begins in 2005. We’re not rushing anything, we’re just not delaying anymore, that’s all.” Batman Redemption will hit theaters Summer 2011.
